PETs Change Lives
Mobility is something that most of us take for granted, but there are millions who do not have it. Some lost their mobility as a result of land mines or polio or crocodile bites or any number of other causes.
PET stands for Personal Energy Transportation. A PET is a three-wheeled, hand-cranked wheelchair like device with hauling capacity. The major offering at Annual Conference this year will be for PETs. Thanks to the Senior Adult Ministry, our conference offering will be through their generous offering of two PETs. As a church-wide fundraiser, and Italian Sunday Dinner previously scheduled for June 1, has been postponed due to an accident in the family of the major cook.
Debbie, our Italian chef, has planned linguine with clam sauce, spaghetti, Italian bread, cheddar cheese casserole bread, green salads, ice cream, and beverages. Be sure to support this activity as it is rescheduled some thime later. |

SAM'S Club (Senior Adult Ministry)
The Seniors have been busy with their activities recently. First of all, they sponsored another Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, May 19th. There were 4 first-time donors of the 42 people presented and 31 productive units of blood were collected. Unfortunately the Red Cross ran out of supplies or we may have had more donors. Thanks to the volunteer workers and those who provided refreshments. The next blood drive will be Monday, July 14th from 2:30 to 6:30.
The Annual Rummage Sale took place May 23rd and 24th in the church fellowship hall. From the $668.55 the Seniors plan to use $500 for the purchase of two PET (Personal energy Transportation) units. See "PETs Change Lives" above for additional information.
The Seniors also plan to give $100 to the youth group to help with thier activities, and $250 (from previous fundraisers) will go toward the Mozambique mission of sponsoring a pastor in that country.
The Seniors will go to Sybill's for lunch in the near future with the date to be announced later. Each senior will receive $10.00 to apply toward the cost of their meal. After lunch, those who wish may like to take a trip to Meramec Springs for a walk or just for enjoyment. The Ozark Actors Theatre has three productions this summer:
June 19 - Pump Bays and Dinettes
July 10 - Music Man
July 31 - Altar Boyz
The cost for a single ticket on Thursday evening and Friday, Saturday and Sunday Matinees is $18.00. However the price for the evening shows on Friday and Saturday is $20.00. Matinees start at 2:00 p.m. For reservations, call 573-364-9523.
